3 Keys for a Service-Driven Small Business

by John Grey on April 11, 2012

Service-driven small businesses need to operate differently then manufacturers or retail businesses.? The small business marketing strategy for a service company should revolve around three core ideas.? Without these three ideas, your service-driven business will not be sustainable.? With these three ideas, your marketing strategies and tactics will then be effective, assuming you have the right strategies and tactics.? Before implementing any marketing strategy, you must uphold these three ideas, no matter what.

Responsiveness: Everybody dreads an unresponsive business owner and no body wants to hire a business with unresponsive employees.? As a small business owner, you must respond to all inquiries, questions, proposals, etc. ASAP.? Putting off a response by a day could kill a potential deal or deter future clients.? Furthermore, unresponsiveness tarnishes your brand due to negative word of mouth.? And do not forget about social media ? ratings and reviews can be posted instantly and will forever be attached to your brand.

Flexibility:? Although a scope of work or a contract might already be drafted and signed, unforeseen addendums might occur.? Be open to adaptations based on new revelations that your client discovers as the partnership develops.? Always be open to addending original contracts or scopes of work.

Transparency: No one wants to work with or hire a shady business.? Assume that everyone you encounter can discern even the slightest hint of? non-transparency.? By being open and honest with everyone you encounter, you will not only be developing the trust of clients and partners, but also you will be developing relationships that might lead to more business.
