Sony to cut 10% workers, about 10,000 jobs

The Wall Street Journal on Monday cited unnamed sources who said the cuts are planned by CEO Kazuo Hirai, who took over for Howard Stringer this month. The move will reportedly be part of a strategy session planned for Thursday.

Hirai is taking the helm after four consecutive years of losses at the Japanese electronics giant, as competitors including Apple Inc.?
